Biography

IT IS THE QUEENAFI BRAND:


QueenAfi (Ah'phee) was born in Washington D.C. to Henry Gaston & Altoria Gaston. She is the proud mother of three children, Juelz Gaston, James Stephens III & Anaiona “Nana” Gaston. She is a graduate of the McKinley High School Washington DC, Class of “93”. QueenAfi currently works for Domestic Violence Wear Many Tags Organization (DVWMT), an educational resource for domestic violence. QueenAfi has obtained her Associates Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from American Intercontinental, Hoffman IL, and Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, Minneapolis Minnesota.

 

QueenAfi has volunteered as a Child Advocate for Abused and Neglected Children in PG County, the Calvary and Pathways Women’s Shelter in Washington, DC, and the Women’s Correctional Facility in Jessup, Md. QueenAfi was privileged to serve as member of the Negro Women’s Council and Policies, Washington, DC, and was featured on WPFW Radio. She is an active member of Johnson Memorial Baptist Church in SE Washington, DC where the Reverend Henry Gaston is the Presiding Pastor. QueenAfi serves as the Coordinator for the Domestic Violence Prevention Program for the church.

 

QueenAfi is also a Mental Health professional, life coach, domestic violence expert/consultant, and talk show host for “The Abusers Side Education”, which educates on the warning signs of abusive personality, female and male perspective. She is also an accomplished Moderator for Community Events, a renown Blogger and a Motivational Speaker on issues of Domestic Violence (DV). Given her passion to help and heal, she offers in-person and phone sessions for the community, to churches and schools, all geared towards promoting the Domestic Violence Awareness cause.

 

In 2009 she founded the Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags (DVWMT) organization. DVWMT is a local Educational and Resource center for victims of domestic violence, in the mission of breaking the cycle and teaching pro-active methods of prevention. DVWMT is dedicated to restoring and preserving a stable family environment through educational services. QueenAfi spends her time introducing a new approach against domestic violence, not only to victims but also to abusers and is inclusive of men, women and teens. QueenAfi used her passion to sober the anger and frustration concerning her domestic violence trials and tribulations and she developed passion over poverty performing arts. “Work in your passion and you will have longevity”~ QueenAfi, 2012.
